Boult to Simmons, OUT, big appeal, and it's given! He was coming forward to that, but the ball swung
in late and he ended up pad-batting it towards mid-off. It was hitting him in line with middle,
fairly low down on the front pad
Simmons lbw b Boult 1

you see kyle Russell had got himself into a frame of mind that was quite scary..both he and Barath. they were hitting the ball so hard in their minds..or wanted to hit it so hard in their minds that a disconnect developed between what the wanted to do and what they actually were doing at the crease. it was terrible to look at those 2 guys
man why were they like that..how the hell come?
Russell appears to have gotten out of it. Barath has not..at least not yet!
thats what I mean by potential idiot. he has the makings and was well on his way.

Southee to Smith, OUT, got him! Watling takes a comfortable chest-high catch on the deep midwicket boundary after Smith pulled this short ball uppishly and straight at the fielder. He had to fetch it from a fair distance outside off stump

also Kyle...Simmons refuses to think at the wicket.
Simmons has a lot of ability but can apply it to no consistent purpose at the crease. he will score 280 runs one day and none at all the next too many time..just like that ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
and just as you get pissed and going to dump his skunt he reminds you how much ability he has with a string of decent but not big scores. so you persist and he does it again..getting out consistently when well set for no good reason, mysterious reasons, silly shots.
now he has done it long enough to prove who he is in my mind...an impse upon whom it is not at all wise to depend for anything at all, in spite of a high level of ability. so you dump him where he can help but not hurt much..T20
it is the exact same with Matrix...Dwayne Smith.

So rain has stopped play and the West indies has lost both openers cheaply. I think New Zealand will will this one unless the other players really step up with the bat. Not a good start by the West Indies but maybe the rain will save them.
