Why is Lendl Simmonds being left out of the West Indies Test team?

As the title said why do you think the the West Indies cricket board selectors are overlooking Lendl Simmonds in the test team? I for one believe a player like Simmonds would be a great addition to the West Indies' struggling batting order. Simmonds is not just a one day and twenty overs player but he can play test cricket well.

* Lendl Simmons has a mediocre first class average of 33.12---90 matches.

* In 8 tests Simmons has scored 278 runs at a pi$$ poor average of 17.37---0 100s and 0 50s

Yes, besides Blackwood - a guy who's in top form in FC, and had a good debut, got left out. We should be talking about that now.

Simmons - I think he should be in the squad, nonetheless.

Simmons is being left out because he is not very good. 
he fits right where he is so leave him there to fart around until he is done

Simmons has been batting better than Gayle for the past 12-18 months.

That may be so but he will still stink up the place if selected for the test team.

WI problems go far deeper than selection.

I think Blackwood should have played in this test instead of Shillingford but WI would probably still have lost.

Blackwood playing and West Indies losing is in no way contradictory.

Blackwood should have played because 5 bowlers is a nonsense and never works.

But I don't think the extra batsman would have made a difference. It's ironic that there was all this talk about spin and when it really mattered in the second innings both Benn and Shillingford failed. They failed to take wickets and keep down the runs.
