New Zealand are hopeful that veteran spinner Daniel Vettori will be fit and available to play in next year's World Cup. Vettori targeting World Cup The 35-year-old has not played for the Black Caps for more than a year and has suffered a dreadful run of injuries in recent times. His last one-day international for the Kiwis was back in June 2013 and he last played a competitive game of cricket in January in the Australia Big Bash League. It was hoped that the former New Zealand skipper would have been able to participate on the current tour of the West Indies but it was deemed that he had not played enough cricket to go straight back into the international game. The tourists are in desperate need of cover in the spin-bowling department, with Kane Williamson's action now under scrutiny and Mark Craig the only recognised front-line slow bowler on the tour. It was thought that Vettori might call time on his career due to his catalogue of injuries but, according to New Zealand bowling coach Shane Bond, the slow left-armer is keen to play in the 50-over World Cup on home soil. "I think the World Cup is certainly a carrot. I think he's training pretty hard at home and all accounts he's keen," he said. "I think probably more we have a genuine chance of winning the World Cup at home. I hope so and I don't know what I can offer Dan, just push him, prod him, kick him in the bum and make sure he's doing hard work."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
