OK Folks:
*
There is a joy in NUMBERS. ;D
* Right now Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are in a race to replace Brian Lara(11,953) as the 5th highest runs scorer in test cricket.
*
Interestingly both Sangakkara and Jayawardene are tied on 11,493
stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/i...results;type=batting
* Sanga(11,493) and Jaya(11,493) have left Shiv(11,374) in the dust as the race continues to overtake Lara(11,953).
* Maybe if Shiv(11,374) would stop playing with his pads and start playing with his bat, he may get back in the race.
11,953---Lara(5)
11,493---Sangakkara(6)
11,493---Jayawardene(6)
11,374---Chanderpaul( 8 )
* Sanga and Jaya need 461 runs to surpass Lara. Shiv needs 580.
* Sanga is a runs machine and the probability favors him to be the first of the 3 to surpass Lara.

It is both surprising and pathetic that shiv should do it again for a man of his experience.
Both balls were not difficult ones for a man of his stature so he has no one to blame.
Disappointing.

* Shiv is more comfortable against quicks than spinners.
* I guess he never learned the art of playing spin bowling from the great Lara.
* Lara was the greatest player of spin bowling ever.
* Oh well! Every batsman has some kind of weakness or flaw.
* To get out LBW twice in a row---padding out to the same bowler----that is disgraceful.

It is not about the Art of playing Spin.
It is about DRS ....and adjusting to the new padding out !
One of his OUT in this manner was disgustingly a Cheat ...

* Good point---Shiv needs to understand how the DRS works.
* By the way, Shiv was pi$$ed off when he had to head back to the pavilion.
* Maybe he'll seek revenge in the 3rd test. ;D

If he does seek revenge and slam a century,he would be tied with those 2 stalwarts. He clearly has another crack at the score whilst the other two don't and maybe he can get there faster than sanga and Mahela.
who do u think will reach that landmark first,shiv,maybe..??

* Sangakkara is a runs machine and will definitely win the 3 way race to 11,953
* By the way, Lara reached 11,953 in 232 innings.
* Sangakkara is currently at 11,493 in only 213 innings.
* Sanga will definitely reach 11,953 in less innings than Lara.
* Does that mean he is a better bat than Lara ?
* Batsmen like Sanga, Shiv and Jaya can't lace Lara's boots when it comes to batsmanship, but they have put up great numbers.

* In July Sri Lanka will be playing a 2 test series versus South Africa.
* In August SL will be playing 2 tests versus Pakistan
* In December SL will be playing 2 tests versus NZ.
==================
* Sangakkara(11,493) and Jayawardene(11,493) both need 461 runs to surpass Lara(11,953) as the 5th highest runs scorer in tests.

Sangas has 11493 test runs
Sangs has 9141 test runs if we omit all those games vs Zim and Bangla
21 percent of Sangs runs have come vs minnows.
This doesn't take into account all his flat track, subcontinent runs.

* Sanga's career must be judged in its entirety. You can't chop and change or cut and paste.
* The reality is Sanga will score 11,953 test runs in less innings that Lara.
* By the way, Lara batted in 232 test innings. Did you know that if you removed his 2 highest scores---400* and 375---Lara's test average in the remaining 230 innings is below 50 ?
* But you can't deny Lara his 375 and 400*.
* And the same with Sanga---you can't deny the man his runs against minnows.
