West Indies pacer Kemar Roach hopes to rekindle his form from 2012 and help the West Indies to levelling the series when they tackle New Zealand at the Queen’s Park Oval in the second Test.
The 25-year-old will be playing at one of his favourite grounds when the two teams meet in the match which starts tomorrow.
Back in 2012, Roach had career-best figures of 10 wickets for 146 runs against Australia.
“The camp is good, the atmosphere is good, the guys are happy and they are still chirpy and stuff but the guys know what happened in Jamaica. We are 1-0 down, we are behind the eight-ball, so we have to go out there and win this Test match and level the series, so the guys are working hard, getting their minds right and I don’t see any reason why we can’t win this Test match here in Trinidad,†Roach said.
Roach said Jamaica was a tough Test, especially since it was his first game since returning from a shoulder injury and the wicket wasn’t conducive to fast bowling.
“So we had to work really hard on it. It was better to keep line and length. I think the bowlers did really well. We created chances. Coming to Trinidad now, the last time I played here I performed pretty well against Australia, so I am looking to better that performance or even top it, so I am just gonna go out there and put best foot forward and put my all in the game,â€
Roach said the pitch at the Oval had gotten better over the years, so the plan is to bowl in good areas and “ the batsmen will make mistakes and you will get the wickets, so I am gonna go out there and hope I do better than last game.â€
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
