Derbyshire County Cricket Club would like to add their condolences to the family and friends of former player Philip Sharpe, who has died at the age of 77.
Although Philip's career was spent predominantly with Yorkshire, with whom he won seven County Championship titles, he joined Derbyshire in 1975 and spent two seasons with the Club.
In only his second game for Derbyshire he scored 228 against Oxford University in The Parks. He scored another three first class hundreds for Derbyshire and 10 fifties. He also scored one List A century plus 5 fifties. Philip played all of his 12 Test matches for England whilst playing for Yorkshire.
The Club’s thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Man, sorry to hear of Phil Sharpe's passing - we all have to go sometime.
He played against the West Indies when they toured in 1963. He was selected for his fielding and ended up topping the English batting averages.
He played in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th tests - England won the third before going on to lose the 4th and 5th.
Sharpe averaged 53.40 in the series (batting at #6) and his scores were:
3rd test
1st innings c Kanhai b Gibbs 23
2nd innings not out 83
4th test
1st innings c Kanhai b Griffith 0
2nd innings c Kanhai b Gibbs 13
5th test
1st innings c Murray b Griffith 63
2nd innings c Murray b Hall 83
