Brathwaite, Blackwood to face touring Bangladeshis

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) -- Resurgent all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite and fellow Test hopeful Jermaine Blackwood have been included in a 13-man West Indies High Performance Centre squad to face touring Bangladesh A in a seven-match series starting later this month.

The two teams are set to play two four-day matches, three 50-over contests and two Twenty20s in a tour that runs from May 26 to June 15.

Brathwaite played two limited overs matches for West Indies three years ago but suffered an injury which kept him sidelined. He bounced back strongly this season, however, scoring his maiden first-class hundred for Barbados and producing telling performances with his clever seam bowling.

Blackwood, meanwhile, topped the batting charts with 611 runs, including knocks of 94 and 118 in the Headley/Weekes Trophy final in St Lucia which helped Jamaica get the better of Windward Islands.

The first four-day match is scheduled for Windward Cricket Club at Lucas Street in the east of the island, with the second game carded for the historic Kensington Oval from June 2.

Players are expected to assemble in Barbados on May 12 for a camp leading up to the series.

A captain is yet to be named, but leadership of the squad is expected to rotate between Brathwaite and out-of-favour Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite.
