PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — Darren Sammy is set to be axed as West Indies Test captain and replaced by Denesh Ramdin for the upcoming New Zealand series, the Trinidad Guardian is reporting.
Quoting an unnamed source in a report carried on Thursday, the newspaper said Ramdin had already received the nod from the West Indies selectors and the final decision would be made during a teleconference among West Indies Cricket Board directors later in the day.
“Denesh received a call from chairman of the selection panel Clyde Butts, who asked him whether or not he was interested in leading the regional team in Test cricket,†the Guardian quoted the source as saying.
“Denesh indicated that he was willing to take on the challenge and this message was passed on to the WICB for ratification. By the end of the teleconference tonight, the region would know who will be at the helm for the New Zealand series.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

The current state of the West Indies cricket team has nothing to do with the Captain. That committed drive is just not there right now.

what!!!!!!! ::confused:: ::confused::
Sammy as captain does not help! Neither does Gibson as manager, nor an exploding bureaucracy around the game.
yes there is a deeper malaise but those appointees and hirings do not help at all..especially the waste that the pie bus represents

Ketchim,
Come on.
Yes SARS was the elected captain before injury and the unfortunate incident which both Shiv and Gayle were subjected to.
Shiv wrote a letter and he was appeased. Gayle went to the IPL and exploded and Sars, sadly wilted almost without a trace.
Yes he was the natural leader and I would put him and Ramdin on par with big bravo in the mix but........
Had Sars seized his subsequent opportunity he could have been at the helm.
I am a supporter of the lad as well but we have to accept he has done nothing to warrant a place......
It is sad for me but we need to move on.
