Haifa Walters steadied the middle order with a run a ball 56 (3×4) while Kurt Lovell made 24 (3×4 1×6). Anthony Antonio claimed 2-36 and Toney Dyal 2-58.TSC were never in the hunt and were sent packing for 116 in 29.5 overs in reply.
Antonio scored 29 (4×4) while Mark Baptiste and Mark Ramsammy chipped in with 18 and 14 respectively. Off spinner Orlando Ghisiawan grabbed 3-27, Persaud 2-19 and Thomas 2-21.
At GYO – the host overcame Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by four wickets. The visitors were bowled out for 112 in 38 overs, batting first.
Stephon Wilson (19) and Lester Cupidore (16) put together 51 for the third wicket after they lost Joshua Raghobar (00) and Khemraj Hardyal who top scored with 28 (3×4), but once they were separated the rest of the batting failed to offer meaningful resistance.
Bhaskar Yadram bagged 5-31 from 11 overs. GYO responded with 113-6 in 38.3 overs. Mahendra Dindyal (13) and Anil Singh (10) set GYO on course with a first wicket partnership of 32. Following Singh’s demise, Dindyal and Yadram featured in a second wicket stand of 22. Despite a tidy spell thereafter by Hardyal who picked up 4-26 from 11 overs, GYO still managed to win fairly comfortable. Denesh Ali scored 22 (2×4) while Yadram made 21 (3×4 1×6).
At Everest – the home team got the better of Bel Air Rubis by 156 runs. Everest batted first and rattled up 229-7 off their allotted 55 overs. Their lone female player Mandy Mangru slammed an attractive 61 (7×4) not out while Yeudistir Persaud scored 34 (3×4), Zahir Bristol 16 and Joshua Persaud 15.
Michael Pooran snared 3-25 and Vishal Moorchan 2-31. Bel Air Rubis never threatened and were skittled for 73 in 21.4 overs in response. Anthony Sookhai and Moorchan made 12 apiece and Nand Sanicharan 11. Nicholas Sattaur captured 5-22 and Bristol 3-3. The competition continues today. (Zaheer Mohamed)
