Joe Root looks set to make his Yorkshire first-team return on Sunday after making a half-century for the second XI.
The second-string encounter against Lancashire was the England batsman's first outing in seven weeks since breaking a thumb while compiling a century against West Indies on 5 March.
The 23-year-old was forced to miss the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh as a result but is likely to be a first-choice pick for the new coach Peter Moores when England start their summer with a one-day international against Scotland on 9 May.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
