WICB is keen to grant the Tests to Guyana, Jamaica and Grenada :

meaning the likes of Trinidad, Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados will be left disappointed. :-[

The WICB has many nations to satisfy and many grounds from which to select :

meaning disappointment is inevitable for some.

Barbados, who has enjoyed close to sell-out crowds for the T20I series against England,

is thought to be particularly disappointed and is trying to persuade the WICB to change their plans.

more plans and actions injurious to west indies cricket.  that is all the wicb ever does..no matter who is in charge

we have 12 officials running the west indies team where we used to have 1, the 3..now a dozen.  and the represent a collection of the most incompetent yes men in the region.

now 1 man the HC costs 300K us per year.  the president and CEO should at least command the same as the HC or more..or it wud not make much sense wud it ::confused::

then the manager and the array of professionals shud at least command 100K of the best regional currency..which would be be the Eastern currency or Bim Dollar.

then of course the pie bus.

wow! oh guuuuude!  dem 12 test and dem alone could eat up the 4-5 million dollars deh get from digicell.

now deh want to send the games to venues where there are no facilities and offer the least returns for crowd support and tourists facilities

par fuh the wicb course :D :D :D :D

Surprisingly maybe not a bad idea  ..... spread it around !!

Jamaica though a tourist resort, not necessarily known for attracting cricketing fans and Grenada still remains an unspoilt hotspot despite its beautiful beaches including Grand Anse.

While Barmy Army members seem synonymous with Caribbean beach culture ... there is the growing eco-tourism appeal which is growing in popularity and Guyana's hinterland could be a major feature along with the cricket.

I.. TO BE HONEST..THOUGHT OF ECO TOURISM

BUT gUYANA  IS IN NO WAY PREPARED FOR THAT.  NEITHER IS gRENADA

Ideally eco tourism goes best with an ideological outlook that is progressive..SOCIALIST REALLY..in which the importance of the environment is seen to be basic and must be protected.

all is put in place to foster the most full development of awareness  of the interconnectedness of all things.  and that approach itself becomes an integral part of the attraction.  the idea is to see and learn and participate in a process that is sustainable and helps human survival.

at the same time the socialist outlook/authorities, allocates the resources and trains the personnel to protect the environment in the process of the tourism..or the tourist..even if inadvertently,  will destroy what we trying to protect and sustain forever

until Guyana/Grenada get onto a progressive bandwagon they cant claim to be eco tourism and wont attract real eco tourists and wont be protecting the environment.

there would be a strong element of informed tourists in eco tourism who would not appreciate pappyshow eco toruism.  and the word would get about

anyway to make Guyana positive for cricket  ..or maximally so relative to other west indian venues...eco tourists must be cricket lovers as well.  I don't know if they are.

given that the Guyana population is small and spread out over distances the eco tourist sell must be strong and successful to impact cricket positively.  there must also be local accommodation for hordes of tourists .

even if tourism ownership is localized a lot of building would be necessary of private homes and small apartments, bed and breakfasts all over the place... that cater to tourists

I suppose Kaiteur would be a big part of the rourism.. but to protect that environment would take great resources I imagine.  are there even vehicle capable roads to Kaiteur now?

I doh know but this issue looks a pretty involved one.

in the meantime it looks like the traditional venues remain the best bet for test matches.  and if those who come to see test cricket in the west indies want to see unspoilt, they can always add a week or 2 to go on to to Guyana and/or Grenada to traipse in the wilderness before going home
