ECB hand Flower a new 'elite' role

The ECB have handed former England head coach Andy Flower a new role in the organisation, appointing him as the new technical director of elite coaching, to be based in Loughborough.

Flower left his post as head coach after the disastrous tour to Australia, and the ECB have yet to appoint a new leader, though limited-overs coach Ashley Giles is thought to be the leading contender, despite his poor track record recently.

Paul Downton, Managing Director of England Cricket, said of Flower's new role: "The ECB is delighted that we are able to retain a man of Andy Flower's experience and quality

Was this an existing role ? ... or a new position created exclusively for Flower?

If the latter .... money for old rope and seems to me just a lay by position for
Flower to step back into the HC position whenever !!! :-\
