Jesse Ryder hires new clinical psychologist to aid rehabilitation

The 30-year-old was dropped from the squad for the recently concluded Test series against India after he went on a late-night drinking session before the first Test. He has also been left out of the World Twenty20 squad.

"I am saddened by these latest developments and concerned for him," revealed Karen Nimmo, the Clinical Psychologist with whom Ryder has worked in the past. "I am not currently Jesse's psychologist as he needed to transfer to another clinical psychologist when he moved to Dunedin."

The Wellington-based Karen Nimmi, along with Ryder's manager-friend Aaron Klee accompanied Ryder in India during the Indian Premier League season. Aaron Klee is no longer managing Ryder's affairs now.

On Wednesday, Ryder, contracted to Otago, was playing the fourth day of the Plunket Shield match against Auckland in Dunedin. He is set to meet the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA) officials later this week to discuss his future.

"The new NZCPA mental wellbeing service provider is an organisation named InStep which will look after the welfare of the players,"  said Glen Sulzberger, the Commercial and Events Manager of the association.

Ryder who has played 18 Test matches, 48 ODIs, and 22 Twenty20 games, has been in news for disciplinary and personal issues throughout his career.
