WEST INDIES batsman Dwayne Smith is hoping his hot form in the Indian Premier League and Champions League T20 series will enable him to enjoy a sustained run in the Caribbean side.

He was named as most valuable player in the Nagico Super50, and has been instrumental in helping the Mumbai Indians claim the 2013 IPL and CLT20 titles. He has now been recalled for the Windies’ T20 games against Ireland.

Smith told ESPNcricinfo: “It feels very good to play a good innings and to go on to continue to win the finals. And now I'm here holding the trophy. I won it the first time I played [for Barbados] in 2003 but it's the result of working hard throughout the entire series.

“Now I'm excited to link up with the West Indies team again. I worked myself very hard to get back into the team.”

He added: “I'm enjoying the role as opener once more. It's a position I get to play and score freely. I showed it in the IPL and in the Champions League.

“The selectors and coaches who backed me for this position, I'm repaying them. Also, for Mumbai, I got to bowl more than expected. I'm always willing and up to do the best job I can, as an all-rounder.”

Well he doesn't quite translate his performance in WI shirts, just like Gayle in that repsect. I propose we get these two in Mumbai/Bangalore jerseys and let them play, I'm pretty sure they'd score then.

Anyway agree that he deserves to be in the T20 side. Handy part timer and excellent hitter while he gets going.
