WICB Media Conference on USTREAM: The West Indies Cricket Board has advised that President Whycliffe “Dave†Cameron, Vice President Emmanuel Nanthan and Ch...
This was a good listen and all the right things were said.
For those of us expecting a lot from the new Director of Cricket, we should but there is a due process to be followed in decision making for all Organisations through their respective Boards. Unilateral decisions cannot be made by Pybus.
I believe the focus expressed is what we have been saying for years and that is focus on the grass roots, a more professional set up with support staff, better pitches and as Richard says proper qualifications for curators, Coaching staff etc.
So I can hear some saying well we know that but what we should take heed of is that it is the first time it is being articulated by the WICB collectively. The President, CEO and Director of Cricket are all on the same sheet.
That is encouraging.
Like everyone else we want to know what is happening to Sammy, Gibson and a few others but I suppose once again due process has to be followed.
This is a long term vision and the difference is that it is being endorsed and verbalised from the top.
However as Cameron says support is also required from the corporate community in assisting with the structure of Clubs.
Unfortunately we will only hear more once the Board has met on 21st March.
Neither Sammy nor Gibson shows signs of resigning so you are stuck.
