Bravo: The more we play the better we get

T&T captain Dwayne Bravo says that the more matches they play the better his players get and this was evident in his team’s win over the Leeward Islands at Shaw Park, Tobago, on Wednesday.



Red Force, after losing their opening match to Barbados, rebounded well and is even more determined to take the tournament.



They come up against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in their final group match on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, needing a win to advance to the semifinals.



Bravo speaking on the upcoming match said: “The CCC match is like a final on Sunday and we are taking nothing for granted and leaving nothing to chance. I like how my players are responding and they are coming good.



“I looked to Sunil Narine coming in from a 27-hour flight and he delivered for us. This is the commitment that we need from our international players. Guys like Sunil, Ravi Rampaul, Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons, Darren (Bravo) and myself have to lead from the front and it is happening. The guys are coming along nicely at the right time and this is a good sign for our future in this tournament.”



Bravo is hoping the fans turn up at the Oval on Sunday to support the team.



“I hope fans can come out and support us on Sunday. Everytime we go out there we are getting better and we want to give them something to smile about.”



One of the main architects in the victory over the Leewards, fast bowler Rampaul, who bagged 4-20, said he is ready for the CCC and will coming out to topple them.



“I had a tough match against Barbados in the first game but I am somebody with great self belief and I back myself all the time to deliver for my country. I am feeling good at the moment and looking to continue my form against the CCC on Sunday.”



Rampaul echoed Bravo’s sentiments that the more the team play the better they get.



“Playing and practice works for us and we are getting better by the day. We just need to keep things simple and focus on the job at hand and we will win matches.”



Mystery spinner Narine, who grabbed 4/17, is happy to be back after missing the first match. “I was happy with our performance in Tobago. The atmosphere was better than we anticipated here in Tobago and we were happy to deliver for the fans. Hopefully we will have more matches in Tobago, so the fans can enjoy themselves as they did when we played the Leewards.”



Looking foward to the CCC match, Narine said, “CCC is a good competitor, they play with heart and soul and they always give us trouble.



“We are going to come hard at them and will be looking to defeat them in a match which is now basically a quarterfinal game.”
