That is it right there !!!!!  Sounds like a clash of the two personalities.  An ignorant Manager trying to wield a big stick and throw his weight around !!!

Who is the Manager anyway Ketch?  Not that Tony Howard, the ex sergeant major is it ?  Phew !!!  >:(

oh man the issue is not all of that....

issue, confrontations, opposed forces can meander a long time before they come to a head in the west indies we know.  I am not making any claims for Kirks brilliance and precision...such would be relative but we know what it could mean in a west indian reality.

the west indies are small..people can be tightly packed and for that reason alone issues of explosive nature can wane long before incidents  of explosion or points of fiyah

it could be that to have left it alone all along was the best way for Kirk to have proceeded.    he may even have supplemented the kit with his own along the way while he never signed.  and that may have been a compromise of sorts that kept a balance.

Balance in the west indies is important enough..especially in Bim..a most tightly packed space with strong traditions in these things

and it is not that he Kirk is so rigid not to have compromised on the way to this point.

that is the way things go even for the principled..especially when ones principle represents a  likely minority but surely a relatively powerless position in the space..Bim.

and it is not so much that types as Kirk are principled..at least as principled as we know principled.  he appears to be determined to be the way he sees life and personal independence at least, ought to be.. and would fightback when his limits have been breached.

the issue then is the confrontation itself...precipitated by an official who enforces the elite right to be obeyed by their social inferiors.  that is systematic, principle upon which west indian society itself functions.

it is british by which the aristocracy has its rights to be obeyed... the very bedrock on which that system is founded and based..from which english west inidian society takes off.

THAT IS CENTRAL TO THIS ISSUE NOT THE MEANDERINGS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF IT.

IN FACT IT IS WHY THE ISSUE DEVELOPED IN THE FIRST PLACE...A RIDICULOUS STIPULATION INSUFFICIENT IN THE SITUATION THAT WAS BOUND TO FIND THE PEOPLE IN THE MIX TO BLOW INTO A PUBLIC ISSUE.

IT WAS AN ISSUE FROM THE START WITH WHICH ALL FARTED AROUND THAT CLEARLY FESTERED UNTIL IT FOUND THE INTRACTABLE OFFICIAL AND THE DETERMINED PLAYER WHO HAD HAD ENOUGH.

AND IN A WEST INDIAN SITUATION FOR THOSE TYPES TO FIND EACH OTHER IN CONFRONTATION IS EASY ENOUGH GIVEN OUR SOCIAL REALITY

nothing here yields to detached tabulation of.. and inconclusive consideration of... the 'facts'

what we have before us is the  solid confrontation between official and player..and what on the surface is reported to have caused it...insufficiency of kit.

when it comes to that we are fully aware of the systematic class nature of the relationship between such people in the region and the simmering heat just below the surface..which render all my comments valid

it appears very clear that the official wanted the confrontation..wanted to send Kirk home.

I wonder why?

it is also clear that Kirks displeasure at the kit situation was known for some time and just like it is suggested Kirk could have handled it at an earlier point..so too could have the Bim admin..  unless we concede the point that as an admin who had instituted the insufficiency of kit in the first place, they would not move to correct their policy period..leaving difficulties they had caused the players intact, and in perpetuity.

so why did the Bim admin not move to resolve?

and why wait till port of spain for a precip that also appears to have been initiated... not by Kirk?

Kirk appears to have made some compromise unto himself and was going along but not conceding his signature or any form of official agreement.  this apparently was breeched by the official in charge and presto we have a point of explosion.

I stand corrected if my idea of the story is wrong.

all the same I am very happy to have learned that Kirk is of this type of west indian..a type I like very, very much indeed.

we always point fingers at nig nogs  as without spine to fight, stupid, backward and weak, no community solidarity, punitive of their own etc, etc, etc.

well here is one who isn't and all the credit to him.  his career is on the line and we know why.  and it fundamentally has little to do with any dam cricket kit
