Tim Southee joined a special club on Wednesday, becoming just the sixth New Zealander to take 100 wickets in tests and one-day internationals.

His forebears are Sir Richard Hadlee, Daniel Vettori, Chris Cairns, Danny Morrison and Ewen Chatfield.

Southee completed the test feat against the West Indies in his 29th cap during December and the ODI feat against India in his 76th match. Both milestones were at Seddon Park.

The achievement adds pedigree to Southee's reputation as leader of the test and limited overs attacks. He is accomplishing the rare feat of adapting to all formats. The 25-year-old is pitching the ball up looking for edges with the red ball while fishing for wickets early in ODIs before opting for short-of-a-length containment with the white ball. That's a lot to process as a bowler. Incumbent ODI player Kyle Mills could do it for only a short segment of his career; Doug Bracewell has struggled; and the selection panel has partitioned Trent Boult and Neil Wagner into tests and Mitchell McClenaghan and Adam Milne into limited overs cricket to avoid a clash.

Southee has improved greatly. He's been gun when he came in, but didn't keep up to promise. But he's been top drawer recently across formats. Although sadly he's lost his batting ability almost entirely - which is somewhat sad to see, but immaterial as long as he bowls as well.
Congrats Southee!

As for Wagner and Boult - they're not parted to "avoid clash" - Boult is dire in shorter formats. And Wagner will soon get kicked out of tests, he's barely threatening, he has never been.

Perhaps the most perplexing aspect of AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as “Jerry World,” is the glare from the sun that bursts through the windows and shines directly onto the field. Time and time again the glare has impacted players’ visibility during games, yet Jerry Jones refuses to make any changes to account for the sun.

Rather than install curtains, Jones has previously said he feels it’s a home-field advantage to have that type of stadium factor impacting games. Well, the glare ended up benefitting the Chiefs early into Thursday’s Thanksgiving game, as a pass from Dak Prescott to George Pickens fell incomplete, at least in part due to the impact of the sun’s glare. SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
