West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard says he still hopes to make the Test side one day, despite being considered an exclusively short format player and racking up 85 ODI and 37 T20I caps.
Pollard, one of the in-demand players in T20 leagues around the world, is part of the Windies' provisional squad for the World Twenty20, but hopes to one day do enough to get a call to the five-day side.
When asked if he was a T20 specialist, Pollard told Cricinfo: "Of course not. Everybody says I'm big and strong and suited to it, but when you look at cricket, the game is changing so much.

whats his record in the local 4 day dungheap? He should stick to t20. After 85 ODIs and still a 25 avg...thats not a sign of someone who can play long innings.
stay with what you are good at, Polly and make your money doing it.

In 6 years or so he has only played 24 FC games!!!!
He needs to play more of that format.

if he is smart, he would run away from your advice, Mail! He stinks at the longer version of the game...just look at his ODI numbers. Let him "make hay while the sun shines" by sticking to the T20 and play as many T20 games in leagues around the world.
Unless of course he thinks he has enough money for the rest of his life and to support his family...then let the adventure begins.
If Beaton can put fear in him....what will chaps like Steyn do to him in a test match???!!

"A few years ago they said David Warner was a T20 specialist but look what he has achieved in Test cricket. Think back to why I was called up in the first place to the West Indies side too. It was because I made centuries in four-day cricket. I'm not a specialist.
'(My dream) was to play international cricket, but Test cricket was huge as a child. It's what you got up at 6 o'clock in the morning to watch. My ambitions are still the same - to pull on the whites for my nation.
"Yes, I've played a lot of one-day and T20 cricket, but the ambition to play in the Test team is there. I'm not an old guy just yet. I don't know how close I am. I might be a way off - I don't know.
"I'm highly unlikely to play a full season of first-class cricket, so my only way of playing is by performing well in the ODIs. I could be wrong but that's the way I think I can do it."
Pollard has been out of action for a while with a knee injury, and is in England working on his rehab: "It's getting there. I'm doing a lot of work in London to sort it but I don't want to rush back.
"It's six hours a day at the moment. I'm a sportsman and I want to be playing, I want to be on the park."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

At Durham...
Warner, who scored a huge 180 in the first innings, said he learnt the art of playing long innings
from Chanderpaul while they were playing for Durham.
Warner and Chanderpaul both scored their centuries in 69 balls
and have Jack Gregory (67), Adam Gilchrist (57) and Viv Richards (56) ahead.
