Indians take spotlight from West Indies

The West Indies have yet to leave town, but already the Indian cricketers are taking some of the spotlight away from them.

They've touched down in Auckland to begin preparations for the five one-day-international and two test series against the Black Caps.

Captain MS Dhoni says the prospect of facing paceman Adam Milne, who cracked the 150 km/h mark over the weekend doesn't worry them overly.

"When we were in South Africa we faced quite a few bowlers who were bowling quick. It's not only about bowling quick.

"What I realised is yes, you may be quick, but at the same time you have to bowl the right length."

Dhoni says extreme pace is all well and good, but they can struggle to deliver consistent line and length.

"Given the chance you will bowl five kilometres less when it comes to pace and you'll be 50 per cent more accurate.

"I think each and every fast bowler will say I would bowl five kilometres per hour less than what I bowl."

Dhoni's reserved some special praise for Black Caps allrounder Corey Anderson, who catapulted himself into the international cricketing conscience with a record breaking ODI century a fortnight ago.

He says all it takes is one innings for a player to start becoming a great of the game.

Dhoni says all international players start from zero and it's up to them to build their reputations.

He says Sachin Tendulkar built himself up from his first innings and Anderson also has a lot of power.
The Indians now travel to Napier to begin preparations for the first of five one day internationals on Sunday.
