Dr. Julian R. Hunte is to be knighted by the Queen.

Dr. Julian R. Hunte is to be knighted by the Queen.

Hunte is a former External Minister and Political Leader of the St. Lucia Labour Party.

In March this year, Hunte was recognized by the Government of Saint Lucia, for 33 years of distinguished and unyielding service to West Indies Cricket. Hunte served for six years as President of the West Indies Cricket Board.

He took over the reigns of West Indies cricket at what many agree was the darkest period of the regional sport and with decisive and visionary leadership instituted and implemented the measures and programmes needed, to first bring an end to the spiraling decline then lay the foundations for the future success of the game.

Dr. Hunte was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE), in 1979 , in recognition of his dedicated service to the Government and people of Saint Lucia.
