Struggling Windies seek one-day boost

Under-strength and under the pump, the West Indies head into Boxing Day's one-dayer against New Zealand as underdogs, but captain Dwayne Bravo is not looking for excuses.

After being soundly beaten in the Test series the tourists take to Eden Park looking for a reversal in fortunes, but without three of their best players.

Limited overs powerhouses Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Marlon Samuels are all missing with injuries and Bravo concedes any side would struggle without the trio.

"Despite the talent that we have, I don't think any of us can fit those shoes. They are three world-class players and as captain I'll miss their ability and their experience," he said.

But the 30-year-old has faith his young squad, ranked one place ahead of New Zealand at No.7 in the world, will give a good account of themselves.

"I'm not going to use it as an excuse if we don't play well," he said.
