West Indies one-day captain Dwayne Bravo has slammed the limp efforts of his country's Test side which has seen their reputation take a battering.

The meek manner in which they surrendered the recent Test series to the Black Caps certainly upset the aggressive all-rounder, and Bravo has firm opinions on where the once proud cricketing nation has lost its way.

"If we're all honest with ourselves its been very embarrassing, to see what state our cricket has come to," Bravo told ONE Sport today as his team trained at Eden Park.

"We can't keep playing the same players, the same team, the same squad, same results.

"And not only the same results but the way we display our cricket at the moment is very disappointing, is very embarrassing.

"You know this is our life. We really need to buck up on ourselves and do something."

The 30-year old veteran is adamant their redemption begins with a Boxing Day victory in the opening ODI clash against the Black Caps.

He has every right to be confident, after his side cleaned up New Zealand with a four-one ODI series hammering in the Caribbean last year.

However, this is not the same side, as Bravo's 2013-14 outfit is bereft of two of their best players - the destructive Chris Gayle and power-hitter Kieron Pollard.

But the West Indies (seventh) are ranked higher than New Zealand (eighth) in the international one-day standings and recently pushed India on the subcontinent.

Bravo insists his team will pose a danger to the confident Black Caps, and warns his players are better suited to the one-day format rather than Test cricket.

"We have a different type of energy now," explains Bravo.

"And we all know that we feel more comfortable in the shorter forms of the game. We want to improve our attitude.

"For me as a captain I encourage the guys to be themselves, to go back to the flamboyant way of playing cricket, and thats what we're going to see here."

Black Caps coach Mike Hesson will be warning his men to be ready for a West Indies revival on Thursday.

Captain Bravo will demand the best, and his players will be desperate not to further damage an already tarnished legacy.

Captain Bravo himself replaced him and bowled the full 10 with 4 wickets !
