Chairman, the Rev admires your incredible optimism.

* Failure now and then is good---it eliminates complacency---and keeps Shiv hungry.

Looking at the stroke , he was set a trap my McCullum.

As a matter of course , The Shivster plays very late to swing bowling.

Boult was brought on and Anderson was sent to short cover for the early play .

the rest is history ...

similar fashion to kirk edwards  ;)

Boult to Chanderpaul, the move's worked, Boult's removed Chanderpaul :

who's reached out to this length delivery but has only scooped it in the air to cover-point !  :-[

Any captain, winning the toss, inserting the opposition and have them score 450 is a failed decision. In the first test the same decision was made with NZ scoring 600+ after being inserted. Cannot quite grasp the rationale for this decision and one which I am sure the coach endorses, as if he had not then a different decision would have been made in this test.

Chandrpaul is a good enough player to overcome this short period of drought. If the reason is because of being in the field for two days, as cited, then he should hang up  his boots.

Long way to go but cannot see the West Indies much over 300 in this innings.

Here's what happens when U lean into the stroke INSTEAD of waiting to play LATE

25.3
Anderson to Edwards,  Edwards eagerly leaned forward

to work it to the leg side, but a leading edge is all he's got,

and cover dives to take it low...

* Let's examine Chanderpaul's drought.

* Here are his scores in India and NZ

* 36, 31* 25, 41, 76, 1, 6 = 216 runs = 36 average

* A 36 average for a batsman with a 51+ test average is, indeed, a drought.

* SHIV MUST ALWAYS BE JUDGED BY A HIGHER STANDARD.

It is because of Chanderpaul's higher standard and consistency upon which the Cricketing world has observed and judged Chanderpaul, that they are allowed to excuse a dip.

Obviously he is nearing the end of his most effective years but pre India, there was nothing to give credence to that point. He appears hungry but admittedly his dismissals from India onwards have been quite soft and not in keeping with a man who seems to value his wicket with life itself.

I think not playing ODIs, which he still seems able to, and the paucity in Test fixtures have lead to a slump of sorts.

If he fails in this series, it would be interesting to see how the selectors deal with him. Hopefully it would be more dignified than his ODIs 'sacking'.
