Fulton unfazed by Basin wicket

Black Caps opener Peter Fulton isn't too worried at the greenish tinge showing on the Basin Reserve wicket for Wednesday's second Test against the West Indies in Wellington.

"I've never seen it looking that green - it'll be interesting to see if it does as much as it looks like it might."

The wicket will keep the bowlers happy, he admits, but there won't be an complaints from the batsmen.

"I guess for the last couple of years in New Zealand, the wickets have been reasonably batter-friendly in the Test matches.

"But you don't expect it to be good for batting all the time."

Fulton says as a batsman, he's fairly relaxed about facing the West Indian bowlers on a challenging wicket.

"I don't think anyone minds a bit of pace and bounce. It'll be interesting to see how much bounce is there, and probably more importantly how much sideways movement there is."

New Zealand go into the second Test boosted by the memory of an excellent first innings 609-9 declared at University Oval in the drawn first Test.
