Alice Springs: Monty PanesarA ground announcer for England's drawn tour match in Alice Springs on Saturday was stood down by Cricket Australia for pronouncing Monty Panesar's name in an Indian accent. (Also read: Panesar shines in drawn tour match)
David Nixon had also been cautioned on Friday for comments made about Joe Root, according to a report.
"Cricket Australia deemed the conduct of the PA announcer as inappropriate and as such he will take no further part in the match," a CA spokesperson said. (Also read: Gavaskar says war of words need to be checked by strict rules)
Panesar, 31, who has played 48 Tests, was born in England of Indian descent.
Australian Associated Press said Panesar had not heard the remarks made on the final day of the tourists' match with the Chairman's XI.
England's team management said they had no knowledge of the matter until the announcer was replaced.
A News Limited report said Nixon had been warned over comments made on Friday's first day of play.
They included: "You can go and have another drink now, Joe" when England's Root was dismissed.
The cricketer had a late-night clash with Australia's David Warner in an English bar during the Ashes series earlier this year.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

I really hate the word "political" correctness, but I think Monty's case has been taken overboard so much. I feel so sorry for him. :/

Kyle you fail to understand the logic of the white man. They cannot come to terms with the fact that the brown , black , and yellow man are equal to them
They will ridicule and put us down but it is inevitable that we is taking over . Asia is rising and slowly but surely so is Africa and the white man is caught in a time warp and wouldn't let go.
They think that it is acceptable to mock a guy like Monty but that is wrong , they do it from the prism of racism and prejudice

Well I don't know if that's the case, but you're really exaggerating. I view the existing racial prejudice as ingrained prejudice and part of systemic discrimination. "Whitey putting down people of color" kind of reasoning - as in they're conspiring or something is really absurd IMO.

The questions to ask are about motives and reason. We will know neither, in this case, but what are they generally.
Would there be a furore had a West Indian announcer done the same or even ape an Aussie accent? In fact it is my observation that many West Indian Commentators, bar Cozier, pronounce names incorrectly, especially their own players. Gavaskar often mimics a West Indian accent, should this be an issue?
This may not be fair comparisons as when someone mimics a non English accent it is normally to belittle and almost suggest you cannot speak English as well as I do.
Therefore I do not think it is PC gone mad and it is getting the sort of attention the action deserves.
If when engaging an Aussie, you use anything about being convicts, they are quite rightly offended.
