Ramakant Achrekar cried at Sachin Tendulkar's dismissal

The 71-year-old revered coach, who was seated in the President's Box, shed tears when his most famous and favourite ward got out. "He was very sad when Sachin got out. He cried a bit later. I had to convince him that we would see Sachin bat again in the second innings. He was okay later on," Achrekar's daughter Kalpana told MiD DAY.

Meanwhile, it is learnt Tendulkar's mother went blank when her famous son took the long walk back to the pavilion. "She was obviously very sad. She was dejected. But she kept her emotions in check. Like everyone else, she too was expecting a hundred. There was no reaction (when Sachin was dismissed). She left after lunch," a source said.
