Soca, i think it would be unfair (to Shiv) to compare him to Kanhai.  In my opinion, Rohan should be compared to Viv!  but thats another subject.

Shiv played in a different era where struggling was essential to earn some respectability for the team.  He was the lone man standing where his team mates were left often splattered on the pitch walking back to the pavilion with their tails between their legs.  Shiv had no choice but to "hold the end"

On the other hand, when he was dropped for being lethargic, how did the Shivster respond?  By scoring the 3 fastest test century against the then best test team in the world, the might Oz which included the like of McGrath and Warne!

I do love the old post boxes though and have one not to far from where I am sitting now. Your picture reminded me of how lucky we are, in these parts, as these post boxes are disappearing. I have to extend kudos to you for this.
