GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Promising Trinidad and Tobago batsman Nicolas Pooran has been drafted into the West Indies Under-19 team for the ongoing seven-match limited over series against Bangladesh Under-19 in Guyana.
The 17-year-old left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper was a member of the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force team which recently reached the semi-finals of the Champions League T20 Tournament in India.
He struggled to tally a mere 40 runs from four innings and looked out-of-depth while hitting his highest score of 15 from 14 balls in the semi-final against Mumbai Indians.
Pooran announced his arrival on the international stage with a whirlwind knock of 54 from 24 balls for the Red Steel in their opening Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match earlier this year.
However, he scored just 48 more runs in the next seven games as the Red Steel exited at the semi-final stage.
Meanwhile, batsman Brandon King has been ruled out of the seven match Youth ODI series against Bangladesh with a hand injury sustained during training.
He will return to Jamaica to continue his rehabilitation.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
