Former West Indies batting legend and current head coach of the T&T Red Steel Gordon Greenidge is saying that the current Limacol Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament cannot end insularity in the Caribbean, the people have to. “It is so wonderful to see how the fans have rallied behind men from other countries. I see the people of Barbados warming up to Trinidadian Keiron Pollard and this is magnificent indeed. I see across the region how people are rooting for men from other nations who are now playing for them and this to my eyes is beautiful.â€
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

This is a myth . There is no such thing as insularity in the Westindies .
Westindians fans of a certain racial persuasion does not give a damn about insularity as long as the players are of a certain racial background.

You should know this better than I do but, sadly, I think you are mistaken.
In my experience say a Trinidadian of any persuasion would prefer seeing, say, the Bravos play ahead of two Bajans even if they are not as good.
That is insularity otherwise how do you account for Sammy's elevation despite his gross mediocrity? Placed by whom may I ask?
I might be mistaken but it might have been by a couple of Lucian Cowboys....

There is insularity.
You remember de bajan boycott over a certain player that people would be hard pressed to remember the name of - dats just one teeny tiny example

I think it was Anderson Cummings but there was some vandalism at the QPO, subject to correction, when Deryck Murray was dropped.
However there are more recent events to suggest the bias and to a large extent i can understand it as the region comprise distinct states with individual currencies, cultures, anthems, etc.

There is no singularity in the West Indies collection of Caribbean islands !
CARICOM is a failure.
Trinidad and Guyana are distinct Societies:
Guyana is a Land of SIX races ..
Trinidad is also multi races.
The rest are all African dominated .
IF insularity does not rear its ugly head then Racism will take over .

Greenidge learned solid defensive techniques on the pudding pitches of his childhood in England
and then allied them to a Caribbean heritage.
