They should have just paid you off in lieu of notice. Very few companies ask the employee to work those 2 weeks out as it may lead to non-performance and other unsavory consequences at the workplace.

do they expect you to train your replacement?
I agree with Snoopster.....most companies, including mine, just buy out the 2 wks notice, whether one is going to a competitor or not.

this is not a for profit org. the work that i do has to be handed over to the horse face i am leaving behind.
so my only responsibility is to finish up the cases in my docket for our meeting in 2 weeks.
which is not bad.
and for me to document all files i have 'touched' regarding their status in the process for the hand over.
but to be honest - i could care less.
