It takes about 20 minutes in readily available small wooden boats to travel from Skeldon in Guyana to Nickerie in Suriname compared to more than one hour on the scheduled ferry service then by road from Moleson Creek to Nickerie via South Drain.
“Not everyone that goes through the backtrack wants to do that illegally but it’s fast. They get over the river pretty quick and so it is ensure that our people move as freely as possible but regulated,†added Rodrigues-Birkett.

the government intent to regulate translates into higher taxes...that means that the berbicians are going to be taxed higher to compensate for the rebuilding of Linden and next to free electricity and water services. This is absolute nonsense.... this pp government is worse than useless...liek some here they are now a nuisance.
