Guyana’s Olympics failure will not be taken lightly – Sports Director
Sports Associations will have serious questions to answer in the not too distant future; this is according to Director of Sport, Neil Kumar.
During an interview with NCN Sport, Kumar spoke of his assessment of Guyana’s participation at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Director of Sport said that Guyana’s failure to medal at the games is due to the lack of proper preparation. He said they have had discussions with Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony to have a special meeting with the Guyana Olympic association.
Kumar also expressed his dissatisfaction with the sport of Judo, and it’s prominence at this year’s Olympics.
“We bungle in the preparation, and I have no apologies, we did not prepare our boxers, we have very good athletes, but people just want trips abroad, not good enough.â€
Guyana failed to medal at this year games, bringing fourth in the Men’s 100m freestyle heats, fourth in the women’s 400m heats, and was knocked out in 12 seconds in the Men’s judo event.
