President Donald Ramotar early Sunday signed a decree to have security forces urgently remove the twelve day old blockages set up by protesters in Linden.
The President’s official order came after failed attempts by the Joint Services to remove the blockages from the Kara Kara Bridge and the Mckenzie Wismar Bridge.
Reports also surfaced of the Bamia Bridge being blocked by protesters.
The Guyana Police Force, late Saturday evening, dispatched its water canon to the mining town, while additional joint services ranks were dispatched early Sunday.
It was confirmed that the Kara Kara Bridge was cleared and the Joint Services were on their way to clear the Mckenzie/Wismar Bridge, where a church service was ongoing.
UPDATE: Joint services ranks have managed to remove most of the road blocks set up in Linden.
After almost a week of negotiations, President Donald Ramotar signed a decree today to remove all blockades set up by protesters in linden.
The Guyana Police Force, late Saturday evening, dispatched its water Canon to the Mining Town, while additional joint services ranks were dispatched early Sunday.
According to NCN's Kurt Campbell who is in the mining town, the ranks have already removed several road blocks along the main access road to the mining town.
Campbell said the presence of protesters were few; however the Kara KARA bridge remain inaccessible due to the large logs placed there.
Ranks were seen using a heavy duty loader to remove these logs, while joint services continue to patrol the area. The water canon has been parked at the Kara Kara bridge.
Meanwhile, the Wismar/Mckenzie Bridge remain clear with the guard of Police officers.
Most businesses remain closed in Linden.

I would suggest that Ramo assume dictatorial powers albeit a benevolent one to move the country foward
