Krishna, don't be what you are not ... they had teargas which they used, and according to a PPP statement, they had rubber bullets. Why did they need to shoot to kill is my question ... but of course getting an objective response from you is an exercise in futility.

well Meseret...I was looking for the neo liberal apsect to this.
Canadian power has been privatised with massive totally unfair and unnecessary increase in the cost of power to the people.
canadian power is the result of decades of investment by the people in the development of power generating infrastructure that has been given to private groups to profit off, under all manner of lies by the powers that be
this theft of the peoples property has been accomplished in many places in the world under pressure from washington/london...neo liberalism.
Trinidad is one such place.
is guyana too?
in which case ALL the guyanese people would be suffering under harsh and unnecessary price rises for essential power..to ensure profits in a public utility that has been turned to making profit for the few.
if that is the case in guyana we have a whole new ball game in which the people have a case..even if that case is not being properly prosecuted by the leaders and organisers of the demonstration.
if the entire guyanese population have a problem with high cost of living and unduly harsh power prices..then the proper thing to do would be to link up Linden problem with the national problem and bring ALL THE PEOPLE OUT IN DEMONSTRATION AGAINST HIGH POWER PRICES.
BUT IN DOING SO THEY MUST HAVE A CLEAR SIMPLY PUT CASE TO THE PEOPLE, ON THE FACTS IN THE ISSUE... AND RELEVANT DEMAND THAT THE POWER GENERATION HAS BEEN PAID FOR ALREADY BY THE PEOPLE..THAT THE PEOPLE OWN IT AND IT MUST BE RE-NATIONALISED AND RETURNED TO SERVE THE PEOPLE..NOT THE PROFIT-TAKING OF A FEW PEOPLE... OR CORPORATE ENTITY
if what I suspect has happened to power everywhere has happened in guyana, thats the way I imagine any sophisticated opposition would proceed.
if all the affected parties are agreed and out in the streets its far far better than just a section of them that can be targeted and separated from the rest..permitting divide and rule against the people

over the past week, there have been protests over the state of the roads in Berbice ... some of the protesters were arrested, but no tear gas, bullets or anything of the sort? would someone care to hazard a guess why?
