Bob Russell was trawling eBay recently when he found something in a Los Angeles car dealer's listing that stood out: his 1967 Austin-Healey, which was stolen from outside his Philadelphia apartment 42 years ago while he was on a date with his future wife. L.A. police told Russell they couldn't recover the vehicle because it's not classified as an active stolen car, so he contacted cops in Philadelphia, who were able to exploit some legal loopholes to get the British roadster back. "The chances of me finding it were slim to none. Fifty coincidences had to coincide to have this happen," said Russell, who plans to restore the car to its former glory.
