wow, I can't begin to imagine what a 6 year old would feel after he realised that he was betrayed by an adult...

Oh God I cant even imagine! Everytime I see stories like this it hurts, the hurt is even deeper now that I have my daughter, now that I fully understand how deep that bond is, how strong the love is. I absolutely abhor these predators.

When my wife and I went to pick up our elder daughter at her care giver on her first day in Junior High School we were told that the school bus had not dropped her off. She then contacted the school immediately and was given the royal run around. We called the police who told us that the child was ONLY four hours late and could not be classified as missing. They, therefore, could not do anything for at least 24 hours. She then tracked down the principal at his home and he contacted the motor pool to find out if all the buses had checked in. They all had. We called all her friends whom we could have tracked down who should have been on the bus and they were all at home. By this time my wife and children were hysterical and I had to summon every ounce of strength to keep from breaking down myself - I had to keep her and my two other children calm. Afdter about five hours the Principal called to say that the bus had broken down and the stupid driver did not call the school to send another bus from the motor pool to take the children home.
When my daughter finally landed home I grabbed her and cried like a baby. You cannot begin to understand the utter helplessness and panic we felt as the evening progressed. All the sordid experiences of missing children we had heard over the years came flashing before us. I experienced death and other calamities in our family over the years but nothing could equate to the pain and anguish we lived through in those 5 hours.
