Georgetown Mayor Ubraj Narine did not contest this year’s Local Government Elections but he declared on Tuesday that his political career is not over.
The newly-elected representatives of the capital city should be declared by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) sometime on Tuesday.
Of the 30 representatives from 15 constituencies across Georgetown elected, one person will eventually be chosen as Mayor when the City Council meets.
Already though, Narine said there will be a smooth transition from him to the next mayor since all necessary documents have been prepared and will be handed over to the next individual.
And Narine said he looks forward to continuing political work when he leaves office.
“Demitting the Office of the Mayor will give me more opportunities.
“… This will not be the end of my political career. I will be on the ground,” the Mayor said during a live press conference.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
