While there is quite a bit to be miffed about the oil saga in Guyana, one of the bright spots is the fact that agriculture has been placed on the front burner. With copious amount of land and water this augurs well for Guyana, as agriculture, highly and maximally developed will ensure that the nation keeps advancing long after oil has said its goodbye. Now the government also needs to place the same focus on the manufacturing sector outside of oil to complement agriculture and ensure that the absence of oil will not affect development and living standards down the road. As well they have got to pay attention to environmentally sustainability so that oil will not leave a denuded and messed up environment after its depletion. In this respect the fisheries sector must be made sustainable and also move beyond a primary producer.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
