In wake of a statement made by the PNCR’s Volda Lawrence that the coalition partners are yet to meet to discuss who the prime ministerial candidate will be for the next elections, the AFC’s General Secretary David Patterson yesterday insisted that his party is solely responsible for the choice.
As a result, he said there is no need to discuss this particular matter with any party outside of the AFC.

As minister of Public Security, Mr Ramjattan has been a total failure. No need to list the daily robberies under arms, the muggings, murders most if not all in broad daylight . He speaks of civil unrest. This happens when the people are fed up with the pressures of daily life; sleeplessness due to the fear of attacks by bandits who are well armed, unemployment, open abuse of political power, political and racial discrimination, lack of proper or affordable health care, high cost of living, acute poverty. This is not an exhausted list but this incompetent minister speaks of civil unrest as if it's something that has it's seeds sown overnight. He should call for national unity instead of issuing veiled threats of an imaginary civil unrest. Any such phenomenon has historically come from one source. He knows the source, we know the source, all ahwee know de source and the authors

INTEGRITY MATTERS!
Guyanese, in the majority, are eagerly relying on the upcoming General and Regional elections which have been mandated as a result of the successful passage of the no confidence motion on December 21, 2019, and are long overdue. It has become an urgent necessity given people’s expressions of frustration, over the government’s incompetence, mismanagement and corruption, resulting in unbearable cost-of-living, an out-of-control crime situation and thefts of billions of tax-payers’ dollars.
The David Granger apnu/afc government has been cowardly hiding from these elections, utilizing a range of delayed tactics, techniques and deceitful maneuverings much to the disgust, anguish and dislike of Guyanese from every corner of the country.
As the government continues to employ all sorts of tricks, the country’s Constitution, its highest law is being flagrantly violated and President Granger is happily unconcerned about the associated consequences and horrible image he is projecting of our country.
While the government stubbornly refuses to resign the Cabinet, in-keeping with the Constitution, hundreds of malpractices, major thefts, amounting to billions of dollars are in operation designed to fill the pockets of an unashamed corrupt cabal.
Granger and his government should not get away with this severe high-class indecency, behavior that violates our Constitution, rape the treasury of its finances and confiscate our resources for their personal benefits.

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has been warned against plans to begin a national house-to-house registration exercise, which its in-house lawyer says could be seen as contravening the judgment of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on the no-confidence motion against government.

Special Assistant at the State Assets Recovery Agency (SARA), Eric Phillips on Wednesday tendered his resignation after being officially informed that his private activities amounted to a “serious conflict of interest”, which, if ignored could have adverse effects on the organisation’s work.
This disclosure was made to Stabroek News yesterday in an exclusive interview by SARA Director, Professor Clive Thomas, who used the opportunity to repeatedly state that he was unaware that Phillips was part of a company which had applied for an offshore oil block in 2016. The application was not granted.
