Salat al kusoof is not mandatory but advised because the Prophet performed it
as a reminder of God's greatness !
A partial lunar eclipse will be visible across much of the world on Tuesday night.
More than half of the Moon’s surface will appear red or grey at the height of the eclipse
which UAE residents will be able to see from 10.43pm.
It will last for about five hours.

Salat al kusoof is slightly different than the mandatory five daily prayers prescribed to Muslims.
The prayer is not preceded by an athan [call to prayer] and the recitation of Quran during the prayer is typically longer than standard prayers.
It comprises two rakats – each of which includes two ruko [bows] and two sujood [placing the forehead on the ground].
During a solar or lunar eclipse, Muslims hold these prayers and recite Duaa’ as this phenomenon is considered to be a sign of Allah’s power and a time to remember His greatness.
