Former AFC parliamentarian Charrandas Persaud says he will dedicate the rest of his life to ensuring that the party does not regain any seats in Parliament.
Persaud, who is currently in Canada, made the pronouncements at the Shri Surya Narayan mandir. A video of Persaud’s address to the mandir was uploaded on their Facebook Page yesterday afternoon.

Attorney General Basil Williams has approached the High Court to settle the legality of the vote on the no-confidence motion that was passed against government, while saying that it needed the support of an “absolute majority” of 34 members to be valid.

A third party is needed in Guyana like a body needs air. But it cannot start from the top with individuals who are already tainted one way or another. That one member of the new party to be launched spent decades as a member of one of the two behemoths and that another one is a political grasshopper while a third who resigned even before the party has been launched claimed that his goal was to support one behemoth and ensure that other is kept out of political power speak to the reality that this party is neither new nor well guided. A third party must start with a reservoir of foot soldiers on the ground across Guyana canvassing Guyanese fro ideas as to its operations, structure and goals. It must ensure that inclusiveness without baggage informs everything from day one.And through this painstaking canvassing it must identify members and leaders and implement a mechanism to create a democratically elected leadership of individuals who are new, fresh and innovative in every sense. Then it must launch a massive, multi faceted PR campaign to interact with Guyanese across every divide and of ever persuasion to drum up support on the one hand and garner the resources - human, financial and logistical to make it viable and truly national. This will ensure that its not an overnight entity of convenience but one that becomes truly Guyanese and that does not focus on race or any other divide but that becomes grounded among the people whose leaders will display a vision that is truly inclusive and national in character. I will not only support such a movement but give it my all and I know hundreds who also would.
