Guyana was already on the map long before Jones Town. To suggest otherwise is an insult to our beloved country.
Guyana first came to prominence when it was know as British Guiana. That was through a postage stamp, which is still reckoned to be the most expensive stamp in the world.Next was through Demerara sugar. Now that name is used by all sort of crooks to label their sugar.
In the angling world Guyana is known as the country with the largest sweet water fish, namely the Arapayma.
In the animal biology world Guyana is known as the country with the largest otter.
