Caracas (AFP) - Recession-wracked Venezuela is to ration electricity in 10 of its most populous and industrialized states, including metropolitan Caracas, the socialist government said.
It is the latest drastic measure to alleviate a severe electricity crisis which President Nicolas Maduro and his government blame on the El Nino weather phenomenon that causes drought.
Critics say it's the result of years of economic mismanagement.
Luis Motta Dominguez, minister for electric power, made the announcement during a televised broadcast and said further details would be released in the coming days.
Maduro is under growing pressure from the center-right opposition, which vowed to oust him when it took control of the legislature in January after winning elections, blaming him for the crippling economic crisis.
Venezuela's economy has plunged along with the price of the oil on which it relies for foreign revenues. Shortages of medicines and goods such as toilet paper and cooking oil are widespread.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

The same happened during 2007. Electricity's rationing is mostly due to low water levels at Guri's dam located nearby Guayana city. Coupled with horrible resource management, bad execution of maintenance measures and a sinful lack of infraestructure's investment. The populist Maduro's government has all the blame for this happening, because power generation is under government's complete responsibility. The phenomena was already foresaw by experts. Although They warned the central government several times, the populist government underestimated all these warning and decided to put its trust in the diminishing Dam's sturdiness. To summarize, the power crisis is a consequence of the central government sheer stupidity .
By the way, the opposition is not center-right. Is mostly left wing. The greatest political parties there are members of International socialism.

The situation in Venezuela is similar to Brazil, but in a even worst aspect, because it is clearly a dictatorship there. I can only hope for the best.
