Iran appoints non-resident ambassador to Jamaica

Tehran, Feb 22, IRNA – Based on a proposal by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday appointed the Islamic Republic of Iran's non-resident ambassador to Jamaica.

Zarif's proposed diplomat for the post, Kambiz Sheikh-Hassani, was appointed as the non-resident ambassador of Iran.

Sheikh-Hassani is currently the Iranian ambassador to Cuba.

Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles.

The island, 10,990 square kilometers in area, lies about 145 kilometers south of Cuba, and 191 kilometers west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean.
