Google 'children born in the UAE' and you will see what I said in my previous post is correct re citizenship of a child born there to foreign parents... takes the nationality of the father as UAE citizenship is by blood and not land of birth.
Figure why would a government give free post secondary education world wide to a non UAE citizen !! Darn expats would be having kids like rabbits especially the Palestinians, Egyptians, Sudanese etc. if that was the case ...

i know i was only there on vacation, but we were in India and met many ppl from the UAE (canadians) and they absolutly love it - they even love the government. the place is great. they need to have rules and regulations in a place or else it will become unruly and utter chaos.
[/quote]Sorry?? Perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying .... to clarify the Rulers are generally held in high regard and respect BUT should someone not share those views especially foreigners those opionions are best kept to themselves.
As you said you were only on vacation on a very brief first visit but what you probably don't know is that I have spent many many years in that region including 21 years+ as a resident of the UAE in Dubai and Abu Dhabi so been there, done that ..... in fact my children grew up there !!!

If you visit again ... try to go to Ras Al Khaimah, Khorfakkan ..... very picturesque .... and Sultanate of Oman only a stone's throw and also very westernized.
