Quote:

As he enters his sixth season in the league, a plethora of questions still remain regarding Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins, the top overall pick from the 2014 NBA Draft.

While he has shown flashes of potential over the course of his career, Wiggins has yet to develop into the consistent two-way star that may expected him to become after he came out of Kansas after a single season. Labeling Wiggins as a "bust" would be too strong, as he holds respectable averages of 19.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and a steal per game over 400 career contests; not the five-year output of a player who doesn't belong in the league. No, Wiggins has game. It's just that he hasn't grown into the franchise cornerstone that the Timberwolves need him to be, and quite frankly, are paying him to be.

Mock Draft: Minnesota takes Clarke at No. 11

That's the issue for Minnesota. Not only did the Wolves bank on Wiggins becoming a two-way superstar, they doubled down and prematurely paid him like one when they gave him a five-year, $148 million extension in 2017. Now, they are now hamstrung by that decision, and due to Wiggins' lack of development, they find themselves in a sticky situation.

The problem is the Minnesota franchise itself. that Franchise eve since I have been in the NBA myself... 50 years now..has been the most consistently run stupid organization of anything at all in he whole world

that is how bad Minnesota Timberwolves are. look here they cat get tar out of hit bitumen to pave a road..doh deh have the tar and the heat right there

I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE DAT IN MY LIFE! THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES ARE THE DEFINITION OF RETARD

this is their administrative MO every time they need new administrative personnel because they had to fire the man like they just fired Tom Thibodeau: look for the toughest, thickest, most florid, low IQ basketball, hard headed man in the field available out there and give him everything..the whole show.

so they made 'Tom Thibs' President, GM and head coach..5 year contract at lots per year. I guess the whole NBA must have shook its head over that.

did the NBA have a quite talk about Minnesota about their ownership practices. I think Adam Silver ought to do that..tell them to go get a consultant to asses their business and come up with what to do to get the franchise rolling.

that's going to be tuff when they have tried the same thing every time for 50 years failed and tried again

and that format may indeed work but for the men they keep choosing. they go get the worst, most lousy basketball men on the market to run their franchise. Minnesota kills the spirit of their players..cant get their best out of them. now they have paid Wiggins so much they cant get rid of him

that's bad for Wiggins too save for the money. he will never be the player he can be in Minnesota. he needs a real team, with a real basketball coach for that to happen..not Tom Thibodeau..all-doh he has been fired. I don't even know who the new man is

AND LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE FOUND

Quote:A disappointing season for the Minnesota Timberwolves has left fans desperately searching for a scapegoat on whom to pin all of the team’s problems. Enter Andrew Wiggins.
The easiest single person to blame for the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ disappointing season (this side of Jimmy Butler, of course) is, without question, Andrew Wiggins.

While some criticism of the young wing is justified, a closer look at the roster construction reveals a much deeper problem.

Quote:Setting aside Wiggins for a moment, the team’s problem can be summed up in just one word: shooting. The Timberwolves lack perimeter shooting in the worst way. Outside of Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota has approximately zero reliable shooters. (Perhaps 0.5 if we count a healthy Robert Covington.)

As opponents consistently send double-teams towards Towns, the team’s woeful inability to space the floor has become even more obvious. If fans truly need someone to wag their proverbial fingers at, the real recipient of such acts should be former head coach and president of basketball Operations Tom Thibodeau.

The team Thibodeau fielded wouldn’t be a good shooting team on paper, and that’s why it’s not surprising that in fact, the Timberwolves are not a good 3-point shooting team.

The only shooting “specialist” on the team is Anthony Tolliver, who Thibodeau brought in using the team’s mid-level exception this offseason. Tolliver has been slightly inconsistent but that should be somewhat expected considering his up-and-down playing time over the course of the season.
