The biggest myth perpetrated by religion

The biggest myth perpetrated by religion is that man cannot understand God and must therefore trust. In effect trust in something beyond your understanding and your ability to cognize and in spite of all the terror and horror, misery and suffering that stalks the world and our lives. It is this myth that enables purveyors of God to expound as experts on everything under the sun as the middlemen between God and us, the special individuals who directly communicate with and absolutely know and understand God and are thus able to coerce hundreds of millions to contribute towards making them millionaires.

People are hardwired to have religious beliefs.  I do have questions about suffering and the apparent lack of intervention by God to assist let us say the bottom four billion.  I would like to see divine intervention with all that suffering.

My personal view is that for most of that flock it a matter of guilt...guilt arising out of their actions and words, that drive them into giving/spending because somehow they are also conned into believing that doing so will absolve them of the guilt. This process of absolution is also part of the snake oil commodity sold by the purveyors of religion.

it is clear god made no religion at all...that there is a universal spirit that we all feel and somehow the pineal is the physical mechanism by which we are attached to that spirit.

people are hard wired for belief/religion by nothing but practice of the nonsense..belief.  it is now codified in our DNA and we appear to come that way, from the start, wired for belief. 

but that is not the case at all.  if we stopped believing now...in 50 years we would seem to be hard wired for what we do then..because in fifty years we would have codified the new way in our DNA just as deep as we did the old way
