to be honest I had no idea that Hindu weddings were to be preformed outdoors or rather must be preformed outdoors.

does it stipulate that in the books?

if it does, then how does everyone get married in the temple and then party it up at the hall? 

what about them indian movie stars that have their ceremonies in a hall?

is that wrong?

i got married in a church and then partied it up in a hall afterwards..pitcha like a pitcha..

traditions have changed over the years.  Customs have evolved and nothing remains the same.

i went to some lovely hindu weddings in the temples here - vishnu and some other mandirs...then off to the hall for full on reception!

traditions has nothing to do with what is written to be done from the vedas or any other hindu book.  everything in the hindu ceremony has spiritual and symbolic meaning with every action.  those actions that are pertinent for marriage will stay and be repeated over and over again and would not be lost.

The symbolic steps are still there. How its is being done has changed. Some to accomodate our new surroundings and other for various reasons.

For example, traditionally the sindoor is applied under a covering. Some now chose to do this in the open citing that the guests were invited to witness this act. 

My mother is suppose to go outdoors every morning to do her puja. Place too cold - she prays inside instead ;D

Mother earth plays an important part in the puja.  Thus, the importance of having it outdoors.  However, there is nothing stopping anyone from having it indoors (hall, mandir, etc).

yes but is it mandatory as all the other rituals in the hindu ceremony?

Including Funerals

The Crematorium can also be Indoors ....
