In 1992 they won and defeated the monster called PNC.

One of the biggest mistakes the PPP made was trying to placate and appease a set of ungrateful wretches in the form of PNC people in Linden, and all the Amerindians, at the expense of looking after the people who voted and put them in power.

On my trip to Guyana in 2011 I took a trip to Linden/Wismar.  All the streets there were perfectly paved, had street lamps, and they had just built a brand new public hospital complete with an elevator and state of the art operating theatre.  Contrast that to the public hospital at Suddie on the Essequibo Coast which has been in a decrepit and dilapidated state and woefully understaffed. 

And yet, every election these Lindeners overwhelmingly vote for PNC.  Same thing the Amerindians.  When I went to Mainstay Lake the govt had just recently built brand new houses for the Amerindian community living there.  Every family had a brand new house.  Meanwhile on the Essequibo Coast you have so many Indians living in dilapidated houses.  And yet, every election the Amerindians overwhelmingly vote for PNC.

So Googs, maybe you do have a point in that the PPP were so caught up with appeasing these ungrateful wretches who were never ever going to vote for them that they neglected to take care of their own people.
